Our honey.

Why our Mānuka honey is so good.
Our honey is so good because we look after all that's around it.
Honey with integrity.

Our Mānuka.
Māori have always known and benefited from the special qualities of the Mānuka plant. Today, Mānuka honey is now widely regarded as one of the most unique and beneficial forms of honey in the world. The reason for this is the presence of methylglyoxal, a sugar molecule, which, although is also found in 'normal honey', its level in Mānuka honey can be up to one hundred times stronger.
Our Mānuka honey is usually dark and amber in colour, it is a strong flavoured honey with aromatic woody, nutty characteristics and intense caramel notes. With a damp earth, heather scent, it has a medium sweetness and a slightly bitter medicinal after taste. Our customers tell us that our premium New Zealand Mānuka honey is the best tasting Mānuka honey that they have ever tasted.

Our brands.
Our flagship global brand, Watson & Son, is Oha Honey's most well known global brand. Watson & Son is admired for it's purity, quality and premium market positioning. We also partner with our customers to develop successful private label brands for specific markets.
Alongside our premium New Zealand Mānuka we also offer delicious variations of other New Zealand native honey, from dark and rich Rewarewa and Kāmahi to light and mellow Clover and Wildflower - all sourced from pristine New Zealand pastures and forests.
Our brands are some of the most respected and trusted on the market and are available in over 1,000 retail outlets and leading online stores worldwide.

Our locations.
We hand pick our hive sites to ensure that our bees are only drawing from the richest Mānuka areas across New Zealand. We have over 30,000 hives located in some of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand and we partner with landowners to place our hives in remote yet pristine parts of our country where the Mānuka is most dense. When the Mānuka flowers, we harvest the honey from the hives, take it back to our plant and package it with the absolute bare minimum of intervention

Our partners.
It's simple, we couldn't make the world's most trustworthy New Zealand Mānuka honey without our partners. We value and nurture these relationships, as we understand the richness these partnerships bring to our business and how they can help us grow.

Mānuka grading systems.
From MGS to MGO, what does it all mean and how do you know that the honey you're buying is pure Mānuka?

Mānuka honey is graded through the measurement of Methylglyoxal found in the honey by an accredited laboratory. Oha Honey uses both MGO and MGS standards of measurement depending on which country you are purchasing our honey in.
The MGO rating system is simply the level of Methylglyoxal (MGO), a naturally occurring sugar molecule, in a jar of Mānuka honey. The Molan Gold Standard™ (MGS) was developed and named after scientist Dr. Peter Molan, who is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading authorities on the qualities of Mānuka honey. The Molan Gold Standard™ grading system has been approved by the Ministry for Primary Industries of New Zealand and meets legislative requirements. It appraises the natural marker Methylglyoxal (MGO) level found in Mānuka honey, and assures purity and quality.
We use MGS™ to give our customers full confidence that what they are purchasing has an accurate, scientifically conducted measurement of the claimed Methylglyoxal content. All Oha Mānuka honey is rigorously tested for this Methylglyoxal content and certified by an accredited New Zealand laboratory under the ISO17025 standard. A lab certificate for any batch of Oha Mānuka honey is available upon request.
